Noel Holston is a Mississippi native who for three-plus decades wrote about popular culture for newspapers in Orlando, Minneapolis and New York. He lost most of his hearing in 2010. His acclaimed book about that challenge, Life After Deaf: My Misadventures in Hearing Loss and Recovery, was published in November 2019. His ongoing “after deaf” ventures include photography; a CD of his songs titled Better Late; and a new memoir, As I Die Laughing: Snapshots of a Southern Childhood, published September 1.
